Explore the Winter Fun in Utah With These Beautiful Attractions!

Utah has a lot to offer! Whether you’re into history, outdoor adventure, shopping, dining or the arts, everyone can find something to love about Logan and Salt Lake City. Boasting mountains fit for skiing, snowboarding, and hiking, a rich pioneer history, galleries filled with unique art, and restaurants to make your mouth water, these two metropolitan areas will keep you wanting more. Here are some beautiful attractions to explore during the winter in Utah.

Winter is a great time to load up on your comfort foods—after all, we could all use a little extra padding to keep warm until spring. Salt Lake City features top-ranked burgers, salads, artisan and New York-style pizzas, bakeries, Mexican street tacos, and brunches. And best of all—dessert! Try a Nutella pizza from Settebello, chocolate-covered raspberries from Hatch Family Chocolates, fresh gelato from Capo Gelato, cookies from Rubysnap or a slice of Tollhouse Pie from The Dodo.

It’s no secret that Utah is the headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and home to pioneer sagas. Temple Square is a great place to explore—not only does it feature stunning, ornate architecture, it’s also iconic in the LDS Church. The Beehive House, once home to Brigham Young and other church leaders, is now a museum with 30-minute tours and concerts in the nearby park. Cleverly named, This is the Place Monument, near Emigration Canyon, marks the spot where Brigham Young first set eyes on the Salt Lake Valley and pronounced it the final destination after the pioneers’ 1,300-mile journey. Or, explore the Utah Museum of Natural History on the campus of the University of Utah.

Logan, just over an hour North of Salt Lake City, is home to two outstanding museums for history lovers. The Museum of Anthropology explores cultures and studies how our behavior has evolved throughout the human experience. The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, though small, is loaded with photos and stories from the early days of the Cache Valley Pioneers.

Salt Lake City is famous for its great ski resorts! Deer Valley Resort is home to six different snow-covered mountains, Snowbasin Resort has over 3,000 skiable acres, and Snowbird continues to expand to host hundreds of thousands of tourists and locals each year. There’s also famed Sundance Mountain Resort, which boasts phenomenal dining. And if you’re into trying something a bit off the beaten path, try out of some the cross-country skiing the area has to offer.

In Logan, Beaver Creek is the best spot for skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobile tours. For indoor fun, check out your aim at Heber Hatchets Axe Throwing, burn some serious calories at the Jump Zone, ice skate at the George S. Eccles Center or target practice at Cache Valley Public Shooting Range.

Salt Lake City is certainly the entertainment hub of Utah. You can check out Broadway shows, concerts, and comedy at the Eccles Theater, opera and vaudeville at the Capitol Theater or the Utah Symphony at Abravenal Hall. On a slightly smaller scale, the Pioneer Theatre Company performs seven plays each season, Hale Center Theatre has a different show each month, and Broadway Centre Theatre features foreign and indie films. And of course, Wiseguys Comedy Club is home to some of the best live comedy in the state.

Logan has Antics Comedy Improv, Locked In Escape Room, Sultan’s Tavern, Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre, and the Old Lyric Repertory Company.
